People may know Jan Dewulf from his work in darker musical genres, having been active for years as a producer, touring musician, and performer in the dark electro, industrial, and gothic scenes.
Despite his deep roots in these genres, Jan is also a passionate fan of ambient, dub, progressive house, and liquid drum & bass, and extensively explores these styles through his various side projects.
With Dream Cycle Inc., Jan revisits the transformative sounds released in the 90s by Planet Dog that left an indelible imprint on his musical soul, reanimating their fusion of dance, trance, dub, ambient, and drum & bass for the 21st century.
Both the name of the project ‘Dream Cycle Inc.’ and the EP title ‘Steps of Deeper Slumber’ are inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s series of stories called ‘The Dream Cycle’, which revolve around a vast alternate dimension accessible only through dreams called the ‘Dreamlands’.
